My first vlog!!! Welcome to ViR ~ This video is an intro to who I am, what ViR is all about, and how recovery absolutely is possible from eating disorders, substance abuse, self harm, etc. I believe in you recovery warriors and those who struggle with body image issues!
I know this isn’t great quality, I had not even planned a video! I was playing with Photo Booth and thinking about doing a new profile pic, and just clicked on video instead. So this was a first run through, no plan of what I was going to say, on the whim, no editing, and I know now I need to work on these. I hope you enjoy and can at least put a face and real “voice” to me.
Let me know what you think! Should I do more videos?
~ ViR

it’s nice to SEE and HEAR the beauty behind the words!

It’s great to put a face to your voice. I liked the way you talked about having multiple addictions and how alone you felt in treatment. That was my experience too.

It was nice to actually see and hear someone other than the usual (my Dr and boyfriend) tell me that things are possible. There are some days where words on the screen just don’t do it, you know? Thank you *hugs*

Absolutely Victoria!!! I know we hear it a lot, but it helps to hear from those who have been there to show there is light and hope! Hang in there and keep fighting!

I love your first vlog! It is really powerful to see you and hear you speak — I teared up, too, several times over what you said about the important of having hope and that recovery is possible and some of the other things you stressed.
It is great to put a face to your writing. I hope you will do more vlogs. I hear they are fun…
I am sorry you had to work so hard to find a place to treat you. In my in-patient and IOP treatments for eating disorders, they accepted people with addictions and other challenges. I didn’t realize there were places that don’t — that doesn’t make sense to me, as most people with an eating disorder also have something else going on in addition.
I am not fully recovered from my eating disorder in the sense that it is hard for me to eat well. I have dietary restrictions (not by choice), which makes it more difficult as they limit the food I can eat. I am 2 1/2 years in recovery from cutting, which is something, I guess. I suffer from depression, as well. I am working on that.
Thank you for your blog. And thank you for your desire to help people with body image and related problems. It helps to know I am not alone, even though I often feel very alone and isolated.
Thank you.

Hey Kendra,
this is awesome. It’s great to actually get to “meet” you in a way, and to literally hear your voice. I also think it’s very courageous to put your face and your voice out there and say this is who I am, and this is what I do, and I find it tremendously inspiring. Thank you.

Thank you, Kendra. Some of the best videos and blogs are those spontaneous ones that come from the heart. This was certainly was from the heart!
Thank you for “putting yourself out there.” I’m very proud of you, and proud of the message that you are sending to others who are journeying with you along this path of recovery. In fact, I’m going to send this to a client of mine now for whom I’m sure you will be an inspiration.
Thank you! Thank you! Send you lots of hugs and love for the new year! Cheers!

I love it Kendra! I think it shows even more how much you do believe in who you are and what you do by not having a script. \
In the midst of big time struggling, you do give hope to me and I know to a lot of others out there.
Thank you for everything you do!

I absolutely loved this! Every single word that you said is so true. Recovery IS so sooooooooo worth it.
Last night, for the first time in YEARS I laughed so hard that my stomach and cheeks started to hurt. I NEVER experienced that when I was ill. Nothing is ever funny when you’re sick like that. That was definitely a turning point
Can’t wait to see more vids of you, Kendra!!

“I allow myself to feel” is probably one of the most important things I have learned. You’re an amazing voice and I am so thankful that you are giving voice to what so many of us, not matter our vice, have gone through. Keep up the amazing work.

Wow… your honesty and caring touches me! So yes, do go on. This is what inspires and spurs us on. Lovely peers like you, sharing from their life, without holding back because they simply want to help and give precious support.
I am in my mid-thirties and on recovery from AN. I have managed to gain both weight and psychological skills. The journey is not yet over – I wonder if it will never truly be – and I look for encouragement here on the Net since I don’t know anyone suffering from AN in my entourage.
